Why this exists

Most people have a valid complaint โ€” but give up because the process is confusing.

Wrong charges on a bill, a bank that won't refund, a pending government service, a product that failed โ€” India has real, free systems to get these resolved. The problem is nobody tells you which portal, which number, and what to write. Shikayat Kaise Karu turns each one into a clear, step-by-step checklist.

Common questions

FAQ

How do I file a complaint against a government department in India?
Use the central CPGRAMS portal at pgportal.gov.in. Register, select the department, describe your issue, attach documents, and track it with the registration number you receive. Our government complaint guide walks through every screen.
What is the National Consumer Helpline number?
It is 1915 (toll-free). You can also file online at consumerhelpline.gov.in, or on e-Daakhil (edaakhil.nic.in) for a consumer commission case. See the consumer complaint guide.
How do I complain against a bank?
Complain to the bank first and wait 30 days. If it's unresolved, escalate free to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in or call 14448. Full steps in the bank complaint guide.
Does it cost anything to file a complaint?
No. Government and regulator grievance channels (CPGRAMS, RBI Ombudsman, National Consumer Helpline, RTI, cybercrime portal) are completely free. Consumer commission fees are minimal and nil for small claims.
Is this an official government website?
No. Shikayat Kaise Karu is an independent public guide. We explain the official process and link you to the genuine government and regulator portals โ€” we never collect your complaint or charge a fee.
